Among 24 matches between Pakistan and New Zealand in T20s, Pakistan have won 14 times while New Zealand have won a T20 game against them 10 times with no tied results as yet. Pakistan are currently a good & stronger T20 side to reckon with but in the absence of their goto T20 batsman Babar Azam, their problems have all been shouldered on to Mohammad Hafeez. New Zealand still has an upper hand and it will be interesting to see how the tournament progresses.
Pakistan vs New Zealand Head To Head in Tests
Out of 58 cracking contests, only 14 pak vs nz test matches have ended in a draw. Pakistan has been dominating test cricket with 25 wins while New Zealand have sneaked out victory 12 times. Under home conditions, New Zealand are an extremely tough side to beat and that being said, they have the likes of Kane Williamson back after the birth of his child to take care of his playing 11 that will go head on against Pakistan.
Players To Watch Out For In The PAK vs NZ 2020 Tour
Mohammad Hafeez
Storming up the world t20 rankings this year, Hafeez has established himself as a complete all-rounder for Pakistan in the shortest format of the game. He has scored maximum runs in this calendar year and features amongst the top T20 players like Dawid Malan, Babar Azam, KL Rahul, etc. Hafeez has been exceptional with his bowling too so that makes him all the more valuable. Pakistan will be dependant on their specialist all-rounder in this series if they have to edge out the Blackcaps in any form.
Kane Williamson
The new Mr. Cool and calm of cricket, Kiwi Captain Kane Williamson is an all-time well established test great. After taking the West Indies bowlers to the cleaners, Williamson is coming back to join the T20 and test squad of his team after the birth of his baby. Recently, Williamson scored a mighty double century against the Caribbeans to take his side 1 up in the series and it proved to be vital at the end of the test series. Kane Williamson features among the top batting greats and in the upcoming pak vs nz series as well, will be a top dependant player for New Zealand.
Trent Boult
The pacer is coming into international cricket after his brilliant stint at the Indian T20 league for Mumbai Indians where he was adjudged the best bowler in the powerplay. Boult’s skills get all the more nourished when he bowls under home conditions. His natural inswinger to the right-handers has given many batting greats a run for their money. Trent Boult is a lethal bowler and would look to pick Pakistani batsmen for fun in the Pak vs NZ 2020 test series. Boult also features among the top bowlers in the world rankings and alongside Neil Wagner, he can take the Pakistan batting attack by storm any time of the day. With windy conditions, expect the new ball to do a lot of good for him and not so much for the Pakistan batsmen.
Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen is the latest rising star from the young Pakistan squad. His T20 international numbers have improved considerably and has recently bowled some unplayable deliveries in the shortest format of the game. He has impressed many batting and bowling legends and in the absence of Pakistan’s strike bowler Mohammad Amir, Afridi will have a huge responsibility on his shoulders. Shaheen has been the main Pakistan bowler now after Mohammad Amir announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in a shocking turn of events. The typical Kiwi conditions can help the pacer eventually but in the longest format he would need to be more consistent, considering the shorter boundaries in New Zealand have always encouraged the batsmen.
