It’s the mighty Hyderabad’s charge on the Knights of Kolkata in their own backyard. While Hyderabad has come strong in both their games so far the same cannot be said about the knights. Kolkata would like to get back to it’s winning ways with this one while for Hyderabad it’s about sustaining their undefeated streak.
Head-to-Head:
Overall: Matches- 12
Kolkata Knight Riders – 8
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 4
Venue:
Eden Gardens, Kolkata is a peach of a wicket to bat on now. The ball comes on to the bat nicely and there’s plenty in there for batsmen as well as spinners who know how to get their length right. Interestingly SRH is yet to beat KKR at Eden Gardens.
Average 1st innings score: 154
Average 2nd innings score: 143
Highest Total: 204/2 (18.2 Ov) by KXIP vs KKR
Lowest Total: 49/10 (9.4 Ov) by RCB vs KKR
Highest Chased: 204/2 (18.2 Ov) by KXIP vs KKR
Lowest Defended: 114/4 (20 Ov) by CSK vs RR
(The above stats only include IPL matches played at Eden Gardens)
The track is gonna be a fast paced one assisting KKR’s foreign dependent batting unit. KKR would like to put in SRH to bat first as most the teams chasing so far have won.
How do the teams stack up?
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR is yet to show their full on paper potential as reflected in their performance. Their bench is filled with some serious talent waiting for opportunity. They’ve had a few positives to pick like Narine and Russel but they are in a serious need to come off as a good unit.
Probably XI: S Narine, C Lynn, D Kartik(C,Wk), R Uthapa, N Rana, P Chawla, K Yadav, A Russel, S Gill, S Mavi, Curran
Player to watch out for: S Narine & C Lynn
Sun Risers Hyderabad
After their neck to neck encounter with the Mumbai Indians SRH has come out looking a very well rounded team with like for like replacements for all of their playing eleven. It’ll be interesting to see what they make of it when Bhuvi comes back and how Sandeep is used after that. Assuming Bhuvi is not playing the next game Sandeep will be seen in the playing eleven.
Probably XI: S Dhawan, K Williamson(c), W Saha(wk), R Khan, Y Pathan, D Hooda, S Al Hasan, Sandeep Sharma, Manish Panday, S kaul, Stanlake.
Player to watch out for: S Dhawan & R Khan
