On This Day Indian T20 Fantasy Cricket Witnesses the Orange Army Triumph

Indian T20 season has evolved through the years and we cannot simply wait for the biggest cricketing on the planet to resume on the Indian turf. However, fantasy cricket’s biggest market for revenue, players, and banters has had a number of memorable winners who came out of nowhere and became overnight successes. Rolling back the years on the same day today we saw an exceptional show from the Sunrisers Hyderabad against the best team of the 2016 season: The Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Let us take a look at how the proceedings began:

  • Cometh the Hour, Cometh the ‘Warne-ing’

What better than the Captain leading from the front in a final! David Warner was on absolute carnage as he opened with Shikhar Dhawan in style and put 63 runs on the board in the first 6 overs. Even after there wasn’t enough support on the other end, the Australian opener took on the RCB attack and made 69 from just 38 deliveries with sixes and fours all along the ground.

  • A Yuvi-Cutting Special

BalleBaazi ambassador Yuvraj Singh played his absolute natural game with swashbuckling drives to cover and flicks on to mid-wicket. His flamboyant powerplay powered SRH through the middle overs as he scored 38 from just 23 deliveries. Considering the fall of Warner, this innings was very vital as it built the momentum to give Ben Cutting the opportunity to finish the innings in style. Cutting, later in the innings took to Shane Watson who gave away 61 runs in his 4 overs as the Australian scored 39 off just 15 deliveries that included an out of the stadium maximum. SRH scored 208-7 in their allotted 20 overs.

  • Gayle & Kohli give steady start

Chris Gayle came on the ground in Universe Boss style and powered his way through the powerplay as he smashed the SRH bowlers for fun. He scored 74 remarkable runs with sixes and boundaries through mid-wicket and over cover. Gayle was very well supported by the run machine Virat Kohli who was simply unstoppable that season scoring yet another half-century. The two of them scored 114 runs for the first wicket before Gayle departed and soon Virat Kohli missed a straight one from Sran as the ball went through the gate and clipped off the bails.

  • AB, KL & Watson Choke Down

After a remarkable tournament, AB de Villiers failed to deliver as he scooped one in the air to the spinner Sharma’s slower one and was picked by Henriques. KL Rahul and Watson both could only manage 11 each as the RCB brigade began knocking down the lower middle order. It was all left to Binny and Baby. Binny showed some heart but got run out in an unfortunate manner while Baby still kept fighting till the last over. But all of it was a little too far from the target as the last ball got flicked for 4 from the left-hander taking RCB’s score to 200 but eventually making the Orange Army winners of the Indian T20 Fantasy League of 2016.
