Indian T20 Auctions 2021: Biggest Buys From The Mini Extravaganza

It sounded ‘mini’ auction but it turned out to break the biggest of records in the end. Players like Chris Morris, Jhye Richardson & Glenn Maxwell will be sleeping peacefully tonight while the top batters like Alex Hales, Jason Roy & Aaron Finch might have to contemplate a bit after they went unsold in the 1st round of bidding. Surprisingly, many players went unsold particularly the star batters and it was clearly an auction for the all-rounders, bowlers, and uncapped batters.

Top 5 Picks from this year’s Mini Indian T20 Auction:

Chris Morris: Rajasthan

It was clear from Bengaluru that they released Morris to get him back at a much cheaper price. But guess what happened, a battle came along between Mumbai & Punjab, and then it was finally Rajasthan that went Halla Bol with the biggest bid in the history of the Indian T20 auctions. At a whopping price of 16.25 Crore, they will have the services of Chris Morris assisting Jofra & Andrew Tye with his pace.

Kyle Jamieson: Bengaluru

The skyscraper from New Zealand went out for a skyscraping price of a massive 15 Crore to the Bengaluru team. Mike Hesson and his men would be extremely glad to have the services of the big all-rounder with his pace and batting. He has done extremely well for his international side and in the domestic tournaments. Well, let’s hope his efforts make Bengaluru go “E sala Cup Namde!”

Glenn Maxwell: Bengaluru

The big all-rounder had his wish granted to play alongside De Villiers with whom he had expressed his desire to play along. Imagine a lineup of Kohli, AB De Villiers, Maxwell & Jamieson. Also, Maxwell was sold for 10.75 Cr for the last time to Punjab and that did not fare well for the team since his form was a grave concern to the whole team. However, he couldn’t be happy after he was purchased for over 14 Cr to the Bengaluru team.

Jhye Richardson: Punjab

The star of the big bash and the highest wicket-taker was sold for a whopping 14 crores to the mighty Punjab team who also got Riley Meredith later in the mix. The pace of Richardson would come in handy to the Punjab team while he might not play alongside Meredith but will assist Mohammed Shami and be a great replacement for Sheldon Cottrell.

Krishnappa Gowtham: Chennai

The mighty all-rounder who played for Rajasthan and Punjab in the past, had a fearful season when Hardik smashed him for 4 sixes in the last over. But this time around, Chennai have decided to groom this all-rounder under the leadership of the great MS Dhoni. An Indian player, as an all-rounder, if plays judiciously will be like gold dust for their team in this season. We look forward to his role in the Chennai team and how this price of 9.25 Crores fares for him and his team.
