The first match at Edens did end the winless streak of four matches for India, but the same impending question came in the light again. What happens when the top order doesn’t perform? What happens when Kohli will not be there for a game? There was a lot of criticism for the team against the way they
handled Windies in the first game. They will have to figure out something. Windies, on the other hand, didn’t look confident with the bat. They seemed missing the flare, or it could be the pressure they are under after the loss of the tests and ODIs. They need to play their natural game, and it might change the fate of the team as well. Let us take a look at the probable playing 11 for this game now.

Head-to-Head:

Overall Matches – 9
India- 3
West Indies- 5
No Result: 1

Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow

The ground is all geared up for Lucknow’s return as the host of international cricket. This is one of the biggest grounds in India created keeping in mind the intensity of the game in this country. The last time Lucknow hosted an international cricket was somewhere in 1994. So, this should be interesting to see how they host their comeback game.

India

India did manage to win the last game with heroics from Karthik and newcomer Krunal, but that raised a lot of other questions. The middle order will have to give some solid performances to boost the team’s confidence in it. KL Rahul will have to play an important role in it. He looked confident in the last game as well before gifting his wicket to Braithwaite. He will have to build his innings. They need a stable number 4 and Pandey can do the trick if he stops being impatient. Umesh will pave the way for Bhuvi in this game after another disappointing death over spell in the last game. The pitch will be new so we will have to wait if they go for a third spinner or keep Khaleel after his two brilliant performances.

West Indies

The main concern for the team is their inexperienced top order. If the top-order gives them a decent start, they have substantial depth in the middle and lower order with Pollard, Braithwaite, Ramdin to accelerate from there. Oshane Thomas was brilliant in his last game backing up Braithwaite brilliantly.

Pollard and Darren Bravo will have to take up the mantle to help the team to reach a fighting total if they bat first. They have shown some promise in the bowling department which is a good sign, and the team can get its glory of T20 cricket back if they can stabilise their batting order. This is a do-or-die match for the team, and they will have to give in their best to keep this series alive.
