Going into the winter break off the back of another dull 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Red Devils will be looking to make a push for the Top 4 in the final quarter of the season that is left to play. A leaky defence and a lack of goals have made the fans turn on the manager and this game against The Blues is a crucial chance for them to get back to winning ways.

Manchester United haven’t lost to Chelsea in their last 3 trips to Stamford Bridge. Having scored 4 without reply at Old Trafford in the last match against Chelsea, the Red Devils will be looking to do the double against them this season. Chelsea will be looking to capitalize on the fact that Man Utd have not been to score in any of their last 3 games while conceding 4 times. Lampard’s side will be looking to exploit Man Utd’s dysfunctional midfield as they did in the reverse fixture earlier in the season although they weren’t able to find a breakthrough.

- Manchester United: Deadline day signing Odion Ighalo agreed to stay away from the Manchester United training ground amid fears of Coronavirus after arriving from China. But that will not be the case, as he will be in the matchday squad to face Chelsea. Nemanja Matic is available for selection again after serving his one-match ban which he earned before the winter break. He is expected to be straight back into the starting XI against his former team. Scott McTominay has resumed full training but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s comments would suggest he won’t make his comeback until Thursday’s Europa League match. The same is true of Axel Tuanzebe. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba remain long term absentees.
- Chelsea: Christian Pulisic is expected to be on the sidelines again following his injury and Lampard’s reluctance to include him in the starting XI. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has stepped up from his recovery to return from his long-term injury but he won’t be able to get fit in time for tonight’s match. Willian is likely to be included in the side after being dropped for the game against Wolves prior to the winter break. Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori are all in contention for one spot in defence if Lampard chooses to start with a back four. One of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic must settle for a place on the bench.
