In 2022, the Indian Premier League expanded to ten teams. To compete against the original eight teams, two extra teams were added to the competition. The Lucknow Super Giants were one of the two new teams. Sanjeev Goenka’s LSG team created news when KL Rahul, the Indian vice-captain, was named team captain.

They named Gautam Gambhir, a two-time IPL champion captain, as the coach. LSG had an excellent debut season, making it to the tournament’s playoffs. However, despite a successful season, Lucknow had a few disappointing performances. Today, we will cover LSG’s lowest scores in IPL history.

82 Against Gujarat Titans (2022)

The Gujarat Titans provided the lowest IPL total and the lone victory against Gujarat Titans when Lucknow was all out with less than 100 runs. It happened at DY Patil Stadium during the 57th game of the 2022 campaign. Gujarat, after batting first, managed to score 144 runs. But what followed was a dreadful batting display by Lucknow. For 33 runs, they lost three wickets. After then, LSG was unable to turn things around. The entire team was dismissed for just 82 runs in 13.5 overs.

153/8 Against Punjab Kings (2022)

The next lowest score for LSG came against Punjab Kings. It arrived at the DY Patil Stadium in April 2022. Punjab chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Deepak Hooda got 34 runs off 28 balls, and Quinton de Kock produced 46 runs off 37 balls after a strong start. LSG used all their allotted 20 overs to reach a score of 153/8. Punjab ultimately scored 133/8 in their pursuit, which resulted in a defeat. That game was won by Lucknow by 20 runs.

154/8 Against Rajasthan Royals (2022)

At Brabourne Stadium in May 2022, Lucknow’s 3rd-lowest total came against Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan chose to bat first after winning the toss. RR scored 178/6 runs in their first innings while batting first. In response, LSG lost its first three wickets for just 29 runs in 5.3 overs. They never recovered after that. Deepak Hooda made a valiant effort, scoring 59 runs off 39 balls. Lucknow scored 154/8 runs throughout their innings as a result, but they were defeated by 24 runs.

158/6 Against Gujarat Titans (2022)

LSG’s 4th-lowest score in the IPL came against Gujrat Titans for the second time. LSG batted first and was bowled out for 158/6 thanks to Mohammed Shami‘s impressive bowling. LSG’s 163/8 against Royal Challengers Bangalore was their 6th-lowest score ever. At the Dr. DY Patil Stadium, RCB defeated LSG by 18 runs thanks to Faf du Plessis’ 96-run innings and Josh Hazlewood’s four-wicket haul. Chasing a 182-run target, the LSG did not have the best start as they lost Quinton de Kock, their wicket-keeper batter, for 3 in the third over, He was removed by Josh Hazlewood.

168/6 Against Mumbai Indians (2022)

LSG scored the 7th-lowest total in IPL history against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. The brilliance in the batting came from KL Rahul, who scored 103 runs, which helped LSG reach a total of 163/8. Then, Krunal Pandya’s economical bowling helped them win the game against the Mumbai Indians by 36 runs.

169/7 Against Sunrisers Hyderabad (2022)

After a dismal start against Sunrisers Hyderabad, captain KL Rahul, and opener Deepak Hooda scored vital half-centuries to lead Lucknow Super Giants to 169 for 7. Rahul and Deepak worked together to contribute 87 runs for the 4th wicket to restart the batting after his team lost three wickets for just 27 runs in the powerplay. Avesh Khan (4/24) and Jason Holder (3/34) helped the Lucknow Super Giants restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to 157 for 9.

176/7 Against Kolkata Knight Riders (2022)

The Lucknow Super Giants beat against Kolkata Knight Riders by 75 runs on Saturday at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, moving them to the top of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 points standings. LSG successfully defended their score of 176, as Quinton de Kock’s fifty and Avesh Khan’s three-wicket haul propelled them to a resounding victory by 75 runs.

193/6 Against Royals Challengers Bangalore (2022)

LSG scored their 10th-lowest score ever in the IPL against Royals Challengers Bangalore in an eliminator game at Eden Gardens. RCB, after batting first, put up a massive total of 207 runs on the board. Rajat Patidar scored a massive 112 runs. In response, LSG got off to a decent start. KL Rahul scored an impressive 79 runs, but it wasn’t enough to pull off the victory, as RCB won the game by 14 runs.

Overall, LSG didn’t play many IPL games comparatively and yet, has been one of the most consistent teams in IPL 2022. LSG’s Lowest scores in IPL history is a testament to the strength of their batting and bowling line-ups. The fact that the team qualified for the playoffs in their debut season tells about their growing strength.
